NGC 2336
NGC 2336 106MLY > IC 467 99.5MLY (SBbc) 04-9-26
——————————————————————
Both galaxies in frame are classified as a Barred Spiral Galaxy. Just like our own Milky Way galaxy. I built a platform on my roof so I could leave my gear out without the fear of someone walking off with it. First time in a year I got out my 5SE for the added Focal length. Here is some information about NGC 2336

Barred spiral galaxies follow a similar classification scheme as non-barred spiral galaxies. They are denoted ‘SB’ and have subcategories’ a-c’. SBa galaxies (like NGC 4921 have tightly wound spiral arms with large and bright central bars, SBc galaxies (like M83 have smaller bars and more loosely wound, clumpy spiral arms. SBb galaxies (like NGC 1300 are somewhat in between. Astronomers believe that galaxy bars are transient features linked to galaxy evolution, with bars more common in the Universe today than in the past. Bars may behave as funnels, driving star-forming gas from the spiral arms into the center, fueling late bursts of star formation in the galaxy core, and feeding the supermassive black hole at the center. Galaxy bars form when the orbits of stars in the center become unstable. Instead of orbiting in circles, they orbit in an elongated fashion, getting locked into place, forming a bar.
